There is nothing quite like seeing the total eclipse of the sun. I was fortunate to see it in my backyard during the 2017 totality in Oregon. It was as unnerving as an earthquake, and nothing like the partial eclipses. The entire sky went dark, you could see 360 degrees of light around the horizon. There were stars and planets in the day time. I can see why people go out of their way to totality chase.
